Meet Darryl
Volunteer | Neighbor | Advocate
As a social worker and professional mediator, Darryl works directly with Seminole County’s families, children, and veteran community. In his legal career, Darryl champions employees facing unjust and unconstitutional discrimination and harassment and parents navigating complex divorce and custody arrangements.
Darryl holds a Bachelors in Social Work from the University of South Florida, a Masters of Social Work from Florida State University, and a Juris Doctorate from Barry University School of Law. Pursuit of higher education has always been a driving pursuit for Darryl, after becoming the first member of his family to attend college.
Darryl and his wife, Melanie, faced an unimaginable challenge when their son, Julius Louis, was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease. They were forced to seek specialized medical care out of state and at great financial cost. After losing their JL, Darryl committed himself to advocating for increased testing at birth and investment in Florida’s research hospitals. Darryl and his family have worked with nonprofit groups across the country to expand pre-natal and at-birth testing for genetic diseases – knowing that early diagnosis and intervention can be the difference between life and death.
Darryl raised his family right here in Seminole County – because he knows that Seminole County offers a promise to its residents and wants to expand that promise. Darryl, Melanie, and their 4 kids can be found on the Sanford Little League fields most weekends, and enjoy exploring the parks and trails throughout our region’s beautiful green spaces.
